Dana White believes Nick Diaz is a better man now – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White believes welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre has learned his lesson from whatever happened last time. Diaz was suspended for taking weed and he has spent enough time ‘not fighting’. White believes,
Diaz would now be more careful before opting for such stuff.
“I would find it very hard to believe that he wouldn’t [go to the pressers],” said White in his recent interview. “You know, after what happened last time, he’s been sitting out for so long. This is a fight that he wanted, he really wanted this fight bad,
and Georges St-Pierre called him out.”
Diaz is scheduled to challenge welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre next year. The fight between the two is already being dubbed as one of the most enthralling bouts of 2013 from UFC. However, GSP and White both are not confident if Diaz would make it
to the fight this time.
“He’s getting it, so yes, I expected Diaz to be there. Listen, the thing about Nick Diaz, Nick Diaz shows up for fights. Nick Diaz shows up and fights his a*s off. He’s not a big fan of the pre-fight promotion, but you have to do it. You have to do it. Whether
you’re Nick Diaz or Anderson Silva, Whoever you are, it’s in your contract. You can actually be cut. We can cut you for that.”
According to White, anyone who breaks the rules should be punished and that he has proved it time and again. For White, Diaz can either make the event or break it, and the president is ready for anything.
Both fighters have personal grudges to settle due to which GSP asked for a fight against Diaz instead of Johny Hendricks, who is the number one contender for the title.
For now, it seems like White is a little worried about Diaz not making it to the mark. If such a thing happens, probably Hendricks will be the one taking on GSP instead of Diaz. White already spoke off a replacement in his previous interview and it was none
other than Hendricks.
