Dana White claims he makes fights for fans – UFC News
After receiving a great deal of criticism from UFC fans, Dana White is trying to make sure everyone understands his point of view.
Earlier this week, on Monday, White held a conference call, announcing that the winner of UFC of Fox 4 will fight Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title. The main event is a fight between Mauricio Rua and Brandon Vera, two fighters who have previously
fallen to the might of Jones.
Since the decision was inapt and in no way a delight for fans, White received disapproval from fans. Now, White is trying to justify his motives, sugar-coating the entire scenario.
Here is an excerpt of Dana White’s interview to MMAJunkie.com, “I put together the fights that fans want to see. The fans didn't like the Rua and Vera choice, so here it is: The guy that wins most impressively on Saturday night out of the co-main event and
the main event will get the shot at the winner of Jon Jones vs. Dan Henderson.”
White has made the necessary changes, yet the entire idea revolves around the same situation. All the fighters participating in UFC on Fox 4 are inferior to Jones. Fans have been wanting to see the current longest reigning champion of UFC to head to head
with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Despite Jones’ several attempts of turning down the idea, most fans and analysts are still demanding a match between ‘Bones’ and the ‘Spider’. When White said he has a surprise for fans, a match between Silva and Jones clicked but all in vain.
“You know what brother, it’s all about opportunities. Brandon is a guy who burst on the scene, was going to be a 205 pound champion, a heavyweight champion, was running through guys left and right,” said White to reporters on Monday.
It seems like White is convinced with the idea of putting either Vera or Rua in the cage against Jones. For White, it will turn up to be a great match but for fans, it is just history repeating again. Probably, White needs to find better options to enthral
fans.
