Dana White declares Dan Henderson to be next in line for a title shot at middleweight – UFC News
Dana White, President of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), in his recent media interaction said that Dan Henderson is next in line in line to either go for a title shot at the middleweight level or the light heavyweight level.
Dana White, during a press conference for UFC 146 yesterday, said, “Yes, Dan Henderson will get the winner of that fight (Jones vs. Evans) or the winner of the Anderson Silva fight. Dan Henderson just wants a title shot. You know, there was a lot of talk
about the stuff I said. Here is the thing. I offered Dan Henderson two fights. Dan Henderson wants this fight. Normally I don't do that. Guys don't sit around and wait and pick their fights. There's been very specific cases where that has happened and it's
guys who have earned it or deserved it. Dan Henderson is one of those guys.”
He added that Henderson has been around forever and that he is forty-something years old. He further said that Henderson has been knocking guys out left and right and if he wants to sit around and wait for this title shot, he can do it.
Dana’s confirmation came in after Dan Henderson insisted him for a title shot. In his recent interview, Dan said that he should have been in place of Rashad Evans to take on Jon Jones for the title. According to Dan, Dana White had made some sort of promise
to Rashad for the next title shot. However, Dan feels that timing wise it was his time to fight Jones and not Rashad’s.
For now, Dana White has made no schedules for Dan Henderson’s title shot. It is not even clear whether Henderson will get the title shot at the middleweight level or the light heavyweight level. Probably Dana is planning something big for Henderson, which
will ultimately be lucrative for the organisation as well. On the other hand, Henderson is excited too to get his title shot whether at the light heavyweight level or the middleweight level. For now, let us wait and watch what lies ahead for Henderson.
