Dana White does not see an issue with organising a fun UFC fight between Bonnar and Silva – UFC News
According to president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White, a fight between Stephan Bonnar and Anderson Silva is a fun fight that would entertain fans. However, probably every one knows that the fight between Bonnar and Silva was made at the
eleventh, to save yet another UFC event from falling apart.
Bonnar, who was at the verge of retirement, was called in to face Silva at UFC 153. Considering his UFC record, Bonnar immediately accepted the fight, thinking of it as a last resort to end his career with a smile. Right now, Bonnar stands with 14 wins and
7 losses in MMA, and 8 wins and 6 losses in UFC. On the other hand, middleweight champion Anderson Silva, is a legend who stands with 32 wins and 4 losses in MMA and 15 wins and 0 losses in UFC.
“You're absolutely, 100 percent right (that it's OK to have fun fights sometimes). The fact that the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world steps up and says, 'Somebody's hurt? I'm in'? Second time he's done it, too – he came in late after i'd already
canceled the Jones fight. It's weird (fans are down on it),” said White in an interview with MMAJunkie.com.
When asked about Bonnar’s plan, White confidently said that the middleweight is looking forward to shock the world.
“Bonnar is vowing to shock the world. It's one of those deals, you wanna talk about a Rocky story – this is a Rocky story right here. This means everything in the world to this guy that he's getting this fight,” said Bonnar.
It should be noted here that Bonnar believes he can defeat Silva only if he plays smart. In an interview earlier this month, Bonnar noted that he needs to keep Silva on the ground in order to win the show. The middleweight contender admitted the fact that
if Silva stays on his feet, he will definitely dominate him.
Nevertheless, Bonnar is training hard to make sure his final UFC bout is a surprise for everyone. He wants to bring a fairytale ending to his career.
