Dana White impressed with Jon Jones’ UFC 152 performance – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White is impressed with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ performance at UFC 152.
Jones locked horns with old-school fighter Vitor Belfort. As expected, Belfort proved to be Jones toughest opponent to date, yet the champion emerged victorious by beating every move thrown by Belfort.
“There's no doubt that this was his best performance,” said White during the post-fight conference. “He looked phenomenal tonight. There was a lot of questions about Jon Jones that people kept asking over and over again, no matter who he fought. No matter
how good he fought. Could he take a punch? He got hit with some big punches tonight from a real puncher, and he took them. He was injured. He had the heart to keep going, and he had a great fight tonight.”
UFC 152 took place on Saturday night in Toronto. Following UFC 151’s cancellation, Jon Jones was already under extreme pressure and it was not easy for him to take on a fighter like Belfort. Most analysts and fans criticised Jones of not being able to take
a punch but he did it. He was shot hard by Belfort and was even locked in the armbar submission but he survived.
He said, “There can be no more naysaying about Jon Jones. You love him or you hate him... but you can't deny that the kid is extremely talented and one of the best in the world.”
Jones was locked in the armbar submission move in the very first round of the bout. According to him, it was the worst submission move he has been in. Jones even went on saying that his arm was about to break but he would not have given up.
During the post fight press conference, Vitor Belfort admitted the fact that Jones indeed is a great fighter and that is why he is the champion. Belfort revealed that he thought he would defeat Jones but after the encounter he was amazed on how well Jones
can fight.
As of now, Jones is happy and he believes he is a stronger man to stand in front of his fans.
