Dana White lashes out on critics of Sonnen vs. Jones – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White is quite furious over critics who have been talking ill about light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen. After announcing yesterday that both fighters will meet next year in the cage,
White was targeted by many for backing off from his words. Since Sonnen will be making his light heavyweight comeback in December against Tim Boetsch, a lot of fans are curious as to why White decided to schedule Sonnen for next year against the champion.
While others are thinking White should have waited for Sonnen to score a victory, the President believes it is a fight fans want to see and so it should happen.
“This wasn't where I was going. But when this happened and Jones was going to be out for so long, it made sense,” said White.
“I understand completely [about Sonnen not having won a fight at light heavyweight], but it's a fight people want to see. That's what the word is, that TUF needs the help? People love to speculate and talk [expletive], but the truth of it is, they don't
know what the [expletive] they're talking about. I have all the answers. The Internet does not. We built this company and we know what we're doing. That had nothing to do with it,” added White in order to clarify his stance.
Not just White, a lot has been said about Jones too, who previously declined the idea of fighting Sonnen saying the American Gangster has to face the top contenders first. In a blow, everything changed for Jones and White. Not that Sonnen is any more promising
now, for some reason, both Jones and White are now inclined towards making this match happen.
On the other hand, Sonnen is excited and he has a word of advice for other fighters, which is that everyone needs to stand up for themselves if they want to score big. For sure, Sonnen has proven the fact that through trash-talking and challenging the might,
anyone can get near to the peak. But, will he be able to achieve the success or once again be washed off?
