Dana White lashes out on those who underestimate flyweight fighters – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White is quite disappointed with fans underestimating flyweight fighters.
During the post-fight press conference for UFC 152, Dana White spoke of the negative tweets intended for UFC flyweights.
The flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez was widely criticised by fans and analysts. According to White, fans who do not like flyweight fights should not buy UFC pay-per-views ever.
“I was reading Twitter tonight, and these people were ripping on the flyweights. Let me tell you what, if you didn't like that flyweight fight, please, I'm begging you, don't ever buy another UFC pay-per-view again,” said White.
It seems like fans still have to accept the flyweight division, which was introduced earlier this year to the mixed martial arts industry. White, however, does not want anyone to comment on it. According to White, if you do not like it, you should not watch
it.
“Don't ever buy another one. I don't want your money. You're a moron. You don't like fighting, and you don't appreciate great talent or heart, if you didn't like that flyweight fight,” White added. “The kid never gave up. He went five strong rounds, and
when I get on Twitter and I see that stuff, I get crazy man. It's just like, please, those of you who said that, I don't want your money.”
For now, White is currently frustrated over the situation and he believes it is time for fans to accept the flyweight division.
Whether White likes it or not, the fact is that it will take time for fans to accept changes in the sport. Flyweight division was introduced by the UFC this year claiming that it would be as exciting as others. However, it seems like fans are not yet entertained
by the idea.
Dana White needs to be more creative and bring in fighters that can actually lift spirits of fans as well as fellow fighters. Maybe it is time for White to use his creative muscle to ensure the division gets the respect and attention it deserves or else
it will remain where it is right now.
