Dana White nods at B. J. Penn and Rory MacDonald bout most probably at UFC 152 – UFC News
Dana White, President Ultimate Fighting Championship, has finally removed the mist off the rumour and has almost officially finalised the much anticipated bout between B. J. Penn and Rory MacDonald which will now most probably co-headline UFC 152 pay-per-view
on September 22, 2012.
White confirmed the engagement and nodded his approval at the possible Penn-MacDonald clash in the post ‘UFC on FX3: Johnson vs. McCall’ press conference. The whole fuss started when Rory in an interview shared his thought that he wants to take on just one
man before he leaves the sport.
Rory stated, “Right now I feel there’s a guy that I want to fight before he leaves the sport, and that’s B.J. Penn. That’s a guy I really want to fight. I respect him a lot. He’s a legend, and I think it'd be a really good matchup for me to have that fight
in Toronto.”
On this bold statement, Penn just uttered a one-liner and commented that he is ready to take on the challenge. The statements acted as a wild fire and the media including the UFC fanatics started influencing and pressurising Dana to arrange and finalise
the clash.
It seems that Dana is also interested in the feud the reason why he stated, “We’re going to do it”, when asked as to what are his comments about the verbal skirmish. The detailed announcement is yet to be made but only trivial info has been released in the
media.
According to the tidings, Penn and MacDonald will co-headline the UFC 152 pay-per-view which is being headlined by the championship bout between Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.
The octagon will most probably be set up at Air Canada Centre situated in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Penn, also known as ‘The Prodigy’, has been in total 26 bouts and boasts 16 wins.
The former UFC lightweight champion faced a tough time in his last bouts and even hinted at leaving the sport once and for all. However, it seems that Penn is again ready to enter the octagon and prove that he has not lost all his gas.
Rory, on the other hand, is a young Canadian surging brawler who is on a three-bout win streak since his last and only career loss to Carlos Condit. Also known as ‘Ares’, Rory has been in total 14 bouts and boasts 14 wins.
At the moment, Dana has officially asked UFC bout-maker Joe Silva to contact both camps for the finalisation of the contract and if this happens, Penn fans will certainly see their idol one more time in action.
