Dana White once again warns fighters against walking out of fights – UFC News
Last year was a little off track for President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White, as he had to cancel a couple of engagements due to fighters either getting injured or backing out of fights. During the last month, White strictly spoke against
such incidents, asking fighters not to back out of matches as it hurts the overall image of the company.
Nevertheless, the president still thinks such incidents are meant to happen but he is trying his level best to avoid them. Currently, White is wondering if welterweight contender Nick Diaz would be able to stand against welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre.
White fears that Diaz might not show up for press conferences which might hurt the overall fan interest in the fight.
Not only this, White is also concerned about the Diaz’s drug testing, hoping that the American fight has learned his lesson.
“I’ve proved that you will be punished if you don’t do it. You either won’t fight the big fight you’re supposed to fight, or you’ll be cut,” said White in his recent interview.
“Nick Diaz doesn’t return my calls, my texts, nothing,” said White, who was upset with the way Diaz is taking things. “It’s Nick Diaz. You don’t have to call me, you don’t have to text me, but you do have to show up for the press conferences.
“I’d be blown away if he did it twice. It just wouldn’t be a good move,” he added.
Not just White, even his opponent champion Georges St-Pierre is a little upset with the entire scenario. GSP knows well that Diaz is not the person who has regards for rules and regulations. Probably that is the reason why even GSP is concerned about whether
Diaz will show up for press conference or not.
For White, GSP vs. Diaz is a major card and he surely does not want to mess it up. However, the way Diaz is taking things, it seems like there might be a little upset when the date arrives. Hopefully, it should not be but when it comes to Diaz, you never
know of the consequences.
