Dana White over Machida vs. Jones: Do not watch it if you do not like it! – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has had enough of criticism lately for his out of the way decisions but no more. White’s fury has erupted and he has a lot to say to the naysayers.
“Don't watch it. If you don't like it, don't buy it,” is Dana White’s message to those who think Lyoto Machida is not worthy of a title shot at Jon Jones.
Before UFC on Fox 4, White had announced that the most impressive victor would be the one facing UFC’s light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. UFC on Fox 4 took place in Los Angeles past Saturday, August 4, 2012, with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Lyoto Machida
emerging as the most impressive winners.
Rua took on Brandon Vera, knocked him out yet walked out of the octagon mortified, believing he was not as good as fans expected him to be. Moreover, ‘Shogun’ even apologised to fans for his under par performance.
On the other hand, Machida took over Ryan Bader, and knocked him out in the very first round. Quite a victory it was for Machida, who then bombarded Dana White with requests of a title shot at Jones.
Since Shogun Rua was fans’ favourite for the title shot, White was widely criticised when he chose Machida as the challenger. However, White defends his decision saying Machida has the fire and passion to become the champion, something Shogun lacks.
“It's what everyone said about this card. All these geniuses who have all the answers are judging cards before they happen. you don't judge something until after it happens. to judge it before is completely stupid,” White added.
As for ‘Shogun’ Rua, White is still not certain as to what will be the next step for the fighter.
“I dunno. I'll have to talk to him and his people and find out what he wants next,” White claimed.
For now, White is furious over those who are criticising his decision of placing Machida as the challenger. White believes ‘Shogun’ Rua needs to buck up more in order to be good enough to face Jones.
