Dana White promises title shot to Michael Bisping – UFC News
It seems like Briton fighter Michael Bisping’s wish of facing middleweight champion Anderson Silva is soon to be fulfilled. Bisping, who has been demanding a shot at Silva, will have to go through the toughest opponent of his career Vitor Belfort next year
in order to pursue a fight against Silva.
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has promised Bisping a shot at Silva, only if the Briton is able to defeat The Phenom.
“If Bisping wins, Bisping will probably will get that next shot. If not, we'll see what happens,” said White.
Bisping has been saying it aloud that he is the number one contender in the division to face Anderson Silva. However, his demands have been suppressed by Dana White for long now. Recently, Bisping’s camp revealed that they are willing to put the middleweight
champion in the ring against Silva, only if Bisping defeat Belfort next year.
“I honestly believe I would deserve it, in my mind Vitor Belfort is the hardest fight in the middleweight division outside of Anderson Silva. My last fight was against Brian Stann, before that it was a controversial loss against Chael Sonnen, before that
I hadn't lost a fight since 2009. So if I beat Vitor I definitely deserve a shot, I'm definitely the number one contender,” said Bisping last week in an interview with Moday’s Edition of Inside MMA of AXS TV.
“I haven't personally heard anything from Dana [White] or the UFC, I heard him on the weekend say I'd probably get a shot at Belfort - sorry at Silva if I beat Belfort,” Bisping added.
The Briton is hopeful that his victory against Belfort would land him a title shot at Silva, something he believes he deserves.
Bisping currently stands as the number one contender to face Silva, after defeating rival Brian Stann earlier this year.
As Dana White puts it, if Bisping defeats Belfort, there is no way he will not get a title shot. The only fighter in Bisping’s way is welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre, who is being eyed for a super-fight against Silva by Dana White.
