Dana White still considering Silva vs. Sonnen II to be held in Brazil – UFC News
Earlier this year, President UFC Dana White promised fans that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will go head to head with top contender Chael Sonnen in Brazil. However, it seems like White has not finalised anything yet on organising the event in
Silva’s hometown. Until now, White is confused since there are a couple of logistics problems the organisation is facing.
According to White, “Yeah, there's stuff going on down there in Brazil, and I'm working on it. We're working on it still at this minute. We had the whole arena mapped out and ready to go. We were pumped and ready for that. … They came to us, and the mayor
was trying to fight for us and trying to keep it. The whole thing just fell apart. I said it before and I'll say it again, that's not only the biggest fight in the UFC, I think it's one of the biggest sporting events of the year. That fight is going to be
done the right way.”
White accepted the fact that fans of UFC will be upset if the event is not organised in Brazil. However, he said that even though it will upset him and his fighters as well, they could not do much about it if things do not work out. According to White, it
is not his fault if the situation in Brazil is not working out in their favour and fans need to understand it.
Revealing more about the current standing, White said that Anderson currently has no problem with the rematch as it is being rumoured. He added that indeed Anderson wants to fight in Brazil but that does not mean he will not fight outside Brazil if things
do not work out. At the end, Dana White promised fans that he will have all the answers for the fans on Tuesday this week.
For now, nothing is confirmed as to whether Sonnen will take on Silva in Brazil or not. Rumours have it that Silva is not ready for the fight and he is kicking up fusses because he wants it to be in Brazil or else he will not fight.
