Dana White talks about Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones – UFC News
For Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, super-fights are the new fad in the world of mixed martial arts. Whether it is about Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre or it is about Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones, White believes everything
is possible!
Following UFC 151’s cancellation and UFC 150’s under par ratings, Dana White believes it is time to give UFC fans something special. As of now, White is focusing merely on creating super-fights between top UFC fighters such as Jon Jones, Anderson Silva,
Georges St-Pierre and Chael Sonnen.
“As you start to get to a point where Anderson is in his career – he's beat everybody, he's broken every record in UFC history – if he wins against Georges St-Pierre, I guarantee you he'll be eyeballing Jon Jones next,” said White in an interview to HDNet’s
‘Inside MMA’.
According to White, he is not just looking forward to a fight between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, but he is trying to get Jon Jones in the ring as well against Anderson Silva.
Silva, who currently stands with 32 wins and 4 losses in MMA, and 15 wins and 0 losses in UFC, is currently out of opponents at the middleweight level. His last fight was against Chael Sonnen, a fighter who was being considered as Silva’s toughest opponents
but he fell to the champion sooner than expected.
In other words, White now wants to cash the Silva brand and the only way to do so is by putting him in the cage against tough opponents.
“Anderson and 'GSP' were talking like they didn't want to fight. Now if he beats Condit, meaning Georges St-Pierre, he wins this Carlos Condit fight, he's saying he wants to fight Anderson, and Anderson is saying he wants to fight him. That fight will probably
happen first,” added White.
When asked about a possible fight between Silva and Jon Jones, two top-notch fighters who are not willing to face each other since they are good friends.
“Anderson and Jones are saying, 'Hey, we're buddies,' or 'We don't want to fight' or whatever the deal is. But [Jones] didn't want to fight Rashad either, and that happened,” said White.
