Dana White talks about Jon Jones’ condition after Belfort fight – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White said it all in his interview with MMA Crazy TV. White spoke about some grave issues that have been disturbing the flow of UFC events recently, from Jon Jones declination to fight Chael Sonnen to
Lyoto Machida’s backing off from a fight against Jones. All in all, White clarified a lot of things, giving rise to further speculations regarding the upcoming UFC events.
First off, White spoke of Jon Jones’ arm, which was viciously locked by Vitor Belfort in an armbar submission. While the Ontario Athletic Commission has asked for an x-ray by Jones to get clearance for his next fight, White believes there is no serious injury
to the arm.
“I just don't see him being out that long -- it doesn't seem like it's gonna be that bad,” said the President who believes Jones is tough enough to take such manoeuvres. “If it was gonna be that bad, he'd be in some serious pain, and we'd know [if he was
injured]. Which is amazing considering that armbar.”
White then spoke off Lyoto Machida, who was being considered as Jones’ next opponent but he backed off. White had scheduled Lyoto Machida for UFC 152 but the latter backed out, saying he is not ready for the fight.
Now, Machida has once again bounced back, asserting that he wants his title shot as promised by White. Unfortunately, White had nothing much to say about it. He asserted that Machida will fight Dan Henderson next, Jones’ opponent for UFC 151 who backed out
due to an injury, causing the entire show to be cancelled.
“We'll see what happens. Machida will probably fight Dan Henderson. We're still working it all out,” said White.
It should be noted here that events of the Ultimate Fighting Championship have been affected greatly by the recent injuries to fighters. White has previously said that they need to formulate a way to avoid such incidents happening in the future.
As of now, White believes it is time for the UFC to bring some changes to the way things are happening, in order to ensure another event is not cancelled.
