Dana White talks about dealing with Anderson Silva and other superstars – UFC Special
Anderson Silva is surely a superstar when it comes to athletes of combat sports, and so Chael Sonnen, Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre. Fans love them and they want to see them fight at every major card of UFC. President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship
Dana White is well aware of what makes a card successful, but the troubles he has to go through to organise such cards are manifold. In his recent interview, White spoke of how tough it is to make it up to the superstars.
“I swear to God, it's like dealing with an artist,” White said. “It's like dealing with an artist or some big, crazy, talented actor. That's what it's like.”
Anderson Silva recently defended his middleweight title against The American Gangster Chael Sonnen at probably one of UFC’s most popular cards of all time. According to White, it is one of the toughest things to manage, as both fighters had their issues
to deal with. Now, White is looking forward to introducing super-fights in the UFC. He wants to strike gold by putting Anderson Silva in the cage against welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre.
White had revealed that Anderson Silva will be in Montreal to watch Georges St-Pierre take on interim champion Carlos Condit at UFC 154. According to White, Silva will challenge GSP in the cage if the latter is successful against Condit. However, Silva denied
White’s statement, saying it is not his character to do such things.
“It's not in my character,” Silva said. “I think it won't happen. I'm sure.”
Probably, this is what White is referring to. Superstars like Silva, Jones and GSP are always very upfront with their views, regardless of the effects they can have on the show. Denying a statement by Dana White is like offending the main authority of the
organisation, but Silva does not care about it because he knows he is bigger than UFC itself.
For now, White is hoping things work out between Silva and GSP so that UFC’s first super-fight is on the cards soon. He knows what it will take from him and he is ready to give it all.
