Dana White talks about the importance of Social Media – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White, who more than two million followers on Twitter, believes social media has brought a revolution in the way things are communicated to the fans. According to White, he most talks to his fans via Twitter
and YouTube, and occasionally through other mediums.
“There's just so much, it's hard to pick one thing. It's literally how we operate now. I do everything through Twitter, YouTube or the Internet somehow,” said White in an interview with Mashable.com.
For White, social media has been helpful in promoting mix martial arts, which otherwise he thinks would have not been possible.
“I communicate with fans literally every day online, so I'd have to say 2012 was definitely the year of Twitter for me. I definitely got more into Twitter, and YouTube too. The video blogs are pulling huge numbers now, and that's the power of the Internet
and the ability it gives us to talk directly to our fans. It's so powerful and information moves so fast for so many people. It's an exciting time for someone in a business like this because you can interact with so many people directly,” he added.
There is no doubt about the fact that White is an active Twitter user. He keeps fans updated with the updates as well as with his point of views.
For any UFC fan, joining White’s Twitter page is a necessity, if he or she wants to stay updated with UFC news. White makes sure to voice his opinions and UFC updates through his Twitter, regardless of what happens later.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the new face of the combat sport industry. Many believe that mix martial arts would soon overtake boxing and other combat sports, which are on their decline. Not to forget, when we talk about mixed martial arts, we are
mainly referring to UFC, a platform that has given the much needed boost to the world of martial arts.
For now, White believes social media has played an important role in giving UFC the fame it deserved, as today the organisation stands as the major platform for mixed martial arts.
