Dana White waiting to talk to Jon Jones in Canada – UFC News
Following UFC 151’s fall, the relationship between President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has turned bitter, thanks to White’s vitriolic comments for Jones.
“One thing you know about me in 12 years, I don't take anything back,” said White in UFC 152 conference call. “It's not like I wish I can go back and take it back, you know. Jon and I haven't seen each other yet since that whole thing. We'll see each other
in Toronto. He and I need to get in a room face-to-face and talk.”
It should be noted here that Dana White blamed Jon Jones for the entire UFC 152 fallout, whereas others, including Jones, believed that the main culprit was Dan Henderson. Henderson was scheduled to face Jon Jones at UFC 151 but due to a leg injury, the
former backed out and Dana White was left with no option but to replace Henderson with ‘The American Gangster’ Chael Sonnen.
Unfortunately, Jon Jones was not ready to face Sonnen, or any other opponent as a matter of fact. Jones rejected White’s offer of fighting Sonnen, saying he would not change opponents just eight days before the showdown. Jones declination led to the cancellation
of the show.
Later on, in UFC 151’s press conference, while announcing the cancellation of the card, White blamed it all on Jones. According to White, he was disgusted with Jones’ decision of not facing Sonnen.
“I've been in this business for 12 years and I've dealt with just about everybody you can deal with. Good guys, bad guys and Jon Jones isn't a bad guy. So, I don't take anything back of what I said.”
As of now, White believes things between him and Jones are still not as bad as they are being portrayed. He wants to talk to Jones regarding the entire scenario and get things sorted out. He is waiting for Jones to meet him up behind the stage before UFC
152.
Jones is currently quite disturbed with White’s reaction towards him and he believes the relationship has already become bitter.
