Dana White wants Ronda Rousey vs. Cyborg Santos to happen in UFC – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White confirmed that Ronda Rousey is the first female Strikeforce fighter to sign a deal with UFC. Rousey is Strikeforce bantamweight champion with an undefeated streak and a record of submitting her opponents
in the very first round via armbar. White has always admired Rousey’s skills and now he wants her to fight against Cyborg Santos under UFC’s banner.
“It’s no secret that I’ve been pretty honest about my feelings about Ronda Rousey. I think she’s [expletive] awesome. I think she’s mean. I think she’s nasty. And she’s a real fighter and I like watching her fight, so I think there are going to be some fun
fights with Ronda. And you got Cyborg if she can move down or whatever happens there, but there are still some fun fights for Ronda and some of the other women too,” said White.
Rousey is known for her fighting skills. She has been acknowledged worldwide as the best female mixed martial artist specialists to ever enter the cage. According to some, she has been the inspiration behind Dana White’s decision of making WMMA a part of
the UFC.
A year back White was hesitant of making WMMA part of UFC but now, after watching Rousey submitting her opponents, White believes it is time for WMMA to gain more recognition. However, the negative aspect of the entire scenario is that White is placing too
much trust in Rousey.
For now, White has explained the fact that Rousey’s entrance in UFC would be of great importance. White previously announced that he is looking forward to introduce WMMA and super-fights in the UFC next year.
There are two things he is focusing on right – placing WMMA in UFC and creating super-fights such as a showdown between Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva. White has been eager to put middleweight champion Anderson Silva and welterweight titlist Georges
St-Pierre together for quite some time. Now, it seems like White’s ambitions are being fulfilled, as GSP defeated Carlos Condit recently to get closer to a fight against Silva next year.
