Dana White wants combat sports to learn from Pacquiao vs. Bradley decision – UFC News
President of UFC Dana White earlier revealed his frustration regarding the Nevada State Athletic Commission, calling it the worst commission today. He appreciated the New Jersey Commission, saying it has been improving over the years. Moreover, White insisted
that more technology should be introduced into combat sports to make sure the results do not affect a fighter’s records.
White’s frustration sprung up after Timothy Bradley won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao via split decision on past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Particularly talking about the decision, White said, “(Bad decisions) happen every week
in the UFC," White said. "It affects records, places in history; it's a big deal and needs to be fixed.”
He then shed light over the lack of technology in combat sports. He iterated, “All other sports, everyone has used technology to make the sport better, except for combat sports. Let's get some instant replay. Something needs to be done, but they don't listen
to me; what difference does it make?”
For now, like others, Dana White is waiting for the WBO and the Nevada State Athletic Commission to review the fight results. Bradley won the show by two judges scoring him 115-113, while one judge scored Pacquiao 115-113. However, the decision was immediately
followed by condemnation all around the globe. High-profile fighters, celebrities, fans, writers and journalists were shocked over the decision of a fight which most of them thought was one-sided.
Several fighters such as former heavyweight Lennox Lewis, former WBA and IBF Champion Amir Khan and Oscar de la Hoya called it a robbery for Pacquiao.
Lewis called the decision an embarrassment for boxing. On the other hand, Oscar de la Hoya said Pacquiao had won the fight and that Bradley should have given the title to him after the decision was announced.
Bob Arum, promoter for both the fighters, has already filed an official request with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to inquire about the influences that led the judges to give such scores to Bradley. According to Arum, Pacquiao won the fight by eleven
rounds and it was a shock to see the judges thought otherwise.
