Dana White wants to keep away from Strikeforce – UFC News
In a recent interview, Dana White has revealed his side of the story saying that he wants to keep away from Strikeforce. White’s revelation came as a result of Showtime’s on and off statements regarding giving White complete control over Strikeforce.
Earlier this year, White seemed excited about running Strikeforce and he promised fans that he would make it as exciting as UFC. However, now it seems like neither Showtime nor White is interested in taking up the charge. After Strikeforce’s Saturday event
headlined by ‘Tate vs. Rousey’, White revealed that Showtime is not willing to make any changes to the show as per his recommendations which is the main reason as to why he is giving away the control.
He stated, “I'll never make that mistake again. UFC is what I am and where I should have been... I almost missed the first UFC fight in 11 years, and then I get the phone call from Pete Dropick when I'm in Japan. 'Yeah, listen, they're not going to change
pretty much any of the stuff you wanted.' So I said, 'F*** them.' You flew out to Las Vegas and wasted my time. Go talk your boxing s*** to somebody else."
After White’s revelation, it seems like things have really gone out of hands. Strikeforce still has six more events for 2012 and with White not being there, the future of Strikeforce appears to be in jeopardy.
The way White has expressed his views, it seems like he is really furious over whatever has happened. As of now, no updates have been received by any other official member of Strikeforce. If White moves away from Strikeforce, the show will really lose its
charm since White is the man who knows how to deal with things from top to bottom. Remember, it was White who made UFC what it is now. With his intellect and passion for the sport, he can make any other event as exciting as UFC’s main events. Strikeforce should
definitely try to bring it down to White and retain him. If he walks away, Strikeforce will no longer been seen as the next big MMA show.
