Danandy hopeful about the season’s second victory in the Betfair Brings You Better Value Novices’ Hurdle at Fontwell
Fontwell will become home for the Class 4 Betfair Brings You Better Value Novices’ Hurdle over two miles, six furlongs and 110 yards on Wednesday, 7th March. The lineup of nine will struggle through the track in order to get entitled to the £3, 054 purse.
The strongest contender among the entire lineup is Danandy, Cloudings’ five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Tower Princess. He has been out during the new season twice and his seasonal debut resulted in a victory.
On 12th January, Danandy was capped the winner of the Digibet.Com Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Fontwell over two miles and two and a half furlongs.
Danandy was riding with Richard Johnson and the two were four and a half lengths adrift from the rest of the lot that was thundering in for the wire. Finishing the race closest to the winner was Boy Of Boru who was soon followed by Boss In Boots, settling third.
The 5/2 favourite of the race, Waterunder ended fourth and was at a loss of sixteen lengths from Boss In Boots.
Ecstatic over the performance of Danandy, who was victorious in the final start of the previous year and got the very first attempt right under his belt too, got entered as a 9/4 favourite in the second race of the new season.
Low Gales cornered Danandy into the second slot in the Annual Members Cheltenham Preview On 1st March Maiden Hurdle on 22nd February at Ludlow over three miles.
Getting settled into the third place was Knockalongi.
Only if Danandy had won this race then he would have qualified for a hat trick. However, the fact that he got defeated in the second attempt does not suggest his failure in the chances that he will get exposed to in the future.
Relying on Danandy’s progress made after the last start, the connections are hopeful about the ability of their gelding to deliver an impactful performance and get the outcome in his favour.
Prime Location and Society Shares can get challenging today so Danandy should look out for the two on the track today. How will the seventh race of his career and third start of the season change his profile will come out in the open soon.
