Dance Solo! HELP DANCERS!?

Kay! im always soooooooooo nervous before doing my dance solo at compatition, or even just doing it infront of my dance teachers..

I need some excersises to help me be not as nervous. please help.. give me some stories to help me realize im not alone!

  1. First of all, calm down! As for the streches, do splits, do jumping jacks, jog, do sit ups and pushups. and strech on the floor.


  2. Ok i was SO nervous at my first solo compeition. What I did was i just went in a corner and just told myself everything was gonna be ok. I went over my dance in my head over and over again. Just think that if you mess up, the judges don't know your dance so just make something up. Once, I went totally blank on stage and I just kept on going by just totally making it up and it went fine. Just dno't worry. Just think that your dance teachers will always be proud no matter what.

  3. first take a deep breath and realize the people in the audience couldn't do anything like what you are doing that is what i do. I know that is a little bit selfish but it works for me. also your dance teachers are there for you. they are teachers and they are there to help you not to make you nervous and uncomfortable. They only want to help you to become a better dancer and i am sure if you mess up in front of the teachers they will help you so much that you will be so confident for the actual competition =]

    the good thing about a solo is that if you mess up, the judges & audience won't know b/c they don't know your choreography

    just improv if you mess up & keep a smile on your face!
