  1. Focus on keeping your center and never get discouraged. Some days are better turning days than others.

  2. I read lovely, detailed descriptions of practicing at the barre! A perfect way to begin the learning process. ( I was taught the same way). However, here's an extra step you can take...to practice our rhythm, because finding your rhythm in the center is very important, we started with weeks of continuous piroettes from fifth, really focusing on how body placement and rhythms match. When the foot is in fifth position, plie, your arms are extended sharp and strongly to second. As you straighten to passe and turn, your arms whip into a strong first. And dont forget to spot! It helped so much as a student, and now I see the difference in my students. Even if you have to work backwards, and re-teach yourself.

  3. Always trust the barre, it will always help you, but other than that, just what they always tell us at class. Pull yourself towards the celing, have good technice, and never throw away your preperation.

  4. well, there r books that help and give very detailed descriptions and tips for turns. i have one that i just checked out from the library. while doing the turn (i am sure u know this :) ) make sure to be holding in ur stomach and r pulled up and that u do a preparation before u do the actual turn. make sure u spot too and that ur arms r in the right spot. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

  5. now i'm kinda against learning dancing from websites but i'll help.

go to youtube and anything under JUST FOR KIX.

they have competions and conventions and its a school thing i think....

but i have looked them up (interested in seeing what they have)

they do have al` secondes and fouettes

  6. its me, i dance at temecula dance company, and i am already in the highest level of jazz, but they don't really think were ready for those, so i taught my self. just go on you tube and look at how people do it. if you practice for 1 day, all day, you will get them! that's what i did. when i woke up the next morning my whole knee i was turning on was twisted and i could barely walk, so i recommend wearing a knee brace when learning them. good luck!
