  1. i agree its hard to write down a jazz dance but my teacher cant stress it enough. it really helps. if u forget one little move it can mess the rest of the dance up so having it all written down allows u to go back and figure out what ur forgetting

  2. Well, it is probably easiest in tap because you just right down the steps, or in ballet... but in hip-hop & jazz it can be harder because chereographers can make up their own unique moves and stuff so it would be hard to write down.  But if you are, try to use like a journal, or video tape yourself or someone doing the dance so you can remember it.

So, like, if the routine starts out with people running on stage, then doing a double pirouette, then they do a pose, then prep into a leap, you would put down something like this:

Run onto stage in straight line, double pirouette.  Pose of choice.  Sashay(lol) step, leap.

i would also recomend putting the amount of counts each thing takes next to it, like next to the pose, for example, put like

    Pose[4 counts].

this is not a real routine I just made one up for an example!

  3. There's technique called Labanotation created in France for dance notation, but that will take a couple of semester in college to learn. There are several ways of doing it that might help you notate your movement.

1: Video cam, along with notes on something complicated. Wished I had this when I was starting in dance and choreography.

2: Write down the technical terms (glissade, tombe, pas de bourre, jete, leaps, step ball change, bend, jump, turn...) along with the count and/or music' and if you don't know what to call it, give it a name along with stick figure drawings.  That's what I used to do before learning Labanotation or Dance notation.
