I am interested in studying dance. However, I have lil training and I know colleges and universities seek dancers that are already trained. Do you know of any schools that accept students with no training?

  1. While it's true that the "better" college dance programs (those that have an established reputation for preparing dancers for professional performing careers) require applicants to demonstrate prior training by having them audition, there are many college dance programs that don't require prior training or an audition. Typically, they are B.A. programs where dance is treated like any other academic subject alongside majors like biology and psychology. But you can also find some BFA programs that don't audition to get in. (They just maintain standards for graduating with a BFA or being accepted for the BFA track.)

These programs can range from performing arts programs such as the one at Columbia College Chicago

or programs that are part of prestigious liberal arts colleges such as Barnard/ Columbia University

Get hold of the print edition of the Dance Magazine College Guide

    http://dancemedia.k-online.biz/cgi-bin/E...

to see listings of (virtually) all of the college dance programs and their admission requirements (including those that don't require an audition).

While you're waiting for that to come in the mail, use their search engine

to find programs that don't need an audition by leaving that box unchecked.
