Dance team!!!?

Question

for anyone who has been a dance team captain or anyone who has had one...can you tell me please what exactly they do as opposed to the coaches? what they are in charge of? are they supposed to choreograph the dances or are the coaches? thanks, any input would help!

i really does depend on where you go. if you can, just ask whoever was the captian before. they will probably be more then willing to help. be prepared for anything though, your coach may teach the routine, and then expect you to take over, or the coach might just supervise

at our school the...

captains:

-chroeograph some routines (our chroegraphers do the others)

-help run practices

-teach routines and technique

-help out the members of the team

coaches:

-supervise

-help fix parts of dances

-advise captains and such

-are in charge of competitions and events (transportation, cost, etc.)

-are in charge of costumes, accounts, and much more.

One team can be very different from the other. In our team coaches teach and choreograph. That's all they do. They show up when coaching is supposed to start and they leave when it ends. They charge a per-hour fee, so we don't want them to do the babysitting. Team captain doesn't need to be able to teach or choreograph at all. He/she can be a beginner level dancer but he/she must posess good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Team captain oversees the function of the entire team. Assuming that team has other events than coaching sessions. Competitions, team meetings, recruiting events, performances, so on.

i no at our school the captins choreograph the dances and the coach is basically jsut there to supervise
