Dance tryouts...HELP!?

My dance tryouts are in about 2 weeks and i really want to move up, but i am already on a high dance line and need more skills in order to do so. I will take all kinds of tips. I Really need to work on back flexibility and turns. How can i do this? Also any good tips on doing a fouette? I have faces and energy in the bag and i can remember a dance easy...But any suggestions on improving in jazz, lyrical, ballet, and kick would be great!

thanks!

  1. For your fouettes:

First practice in poses. Start from the front with your leg across your body and your toe pointed to the floor.

Second, bring your leg out to your side without lifting your hip. (If you lift your hip, it throws you off balance. You will eventually do it naturally but you wont lose your balance)

Third practice your turns and always come back to the first position.

Always remeber to spot. After you perfect the poses, put it all together and speed it up.

Hint: Don't focus so much on balance. Thinking too much throws you off. Just get your body used to the poses and everything will come naturally.

  2. just keep stretching! Practice practice practice! On fouettes just remember to find the front and dont let your leg go to far side or you'll hop around. practice your splits too! (dont do your splits before you stretch everything else or you'll tear a muscle.)

    Hope i helped!
