My mothers Dancerina Ballerina doll is broken at the neck and needs to fixed. it would be such a relief to finally have her priceless doll from her childhood finally fixed. it has been broken for around 12 years. If this has happened to anyone please tell me how you fixed it. Or I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me some places in Minnesota where i could get her fixed for my mother.

  1. ann 's answer is great, the mechanics run through the whole body enclosed in plastic casing, I would say the crown will or should come off and you would be able to work from that stand point. I pull one that I am putting on ebay and she is 24 inches tall. Does not look easy!!! to fix.

  2. Hmmmm....that depends on exactly what's wrong with it. If the damage is severe, it may be beyond repair, but it sounds like you have probably considered this, so maybe there is a chance for her. Look in your local phone book for Doll Hospitals in your area. If there isn't one, you can do an internet search for doll hospitals and email them to see if they repair that particular doll (not all of them may handle mechanical dolls). I know people that repair dolls who have the doll sent to them and send it back when the repair is complete (many will also clean it and fix up the dolls hair and make her look more new if the need is there). If you are told the doll is beyond repair, the only option left would be to buy her one that works. You can readily find working ones on Ebay (but watch the cost! Be very patient to get the best price on one...check ended autions to see what they have actually been selling for, not just what some sellers are asking. You will see that the ones that were too high in price didn't sell at all). I know that it would be much more sentimental to have her original doll fixed (you are so sweet for doing this!) but keep in mind your options if it isn't possible. Repairs can often cost more than the doll is worth, but I know her original doll can be priceless compared to a replacement. The cost can even be higher to fix her if they need to find another doll with different issues to use for the replacement parts. Best of luck! I will add a link to a list of doll hospitals for you ....
