Question:

Dancers: are you a low-bun or a high-bun kind of person?

Myself, I am a low-bun person. I suppose I developed it from redoing my hair a thousand times from a high bun so that I could put on a tiara or hat or headpiece or whatever for some show or another. My professional company generally accepts lower buns more, just because they are more discreet.

This can be about class or performances: what kind of bun are you?

  1. im only 13, so im just in a studio type thing as a dancer. i am a middle bun kind of person. personally id rather just do a messy bun or a pony but if i have to do a bun, like for ballet, i put it in the middle. thats just because it doesnt pull on my neck when i move it, and thats where my ponys go. also i just do side ponys or even side buns so that when we do crunches or something on the floor it doesnt kill my head. also a high bun isnt as hot. we only use air conditioning if its 90 degrees outside or higher.

  2. High Bun. It regulation for exams only (Thank the lord!) at Liesa's School Of Dance

  3. High Bun. I use a hairagami so it works better up higher.

  4. I prefer low-bun. But I usually have short hair unless a performance requires me to have long hair. High-bun makes me fill uptight and under strict rules like a ballet class. Me, I was raised in jazz and hip-hop, so low-bun, to me, would feel more casual.

  5. the school I trained with required a high bun for class. (top of the bun had to be level with the top of the head)

I am so used to the high bun, it never occurs to me to do anything else for class.  I require the same out of my students.

For performances, whatever works for the show, but usually high.

  6. I am a high-bun because the bun, I believe, should be worn at the crown of the head. It looks the nicest there.

  7. high bun :]

it feels good off my neck and it feels cleaner to me.

  8. I do a high bun only because that is what I have been doing ever since forever ago lol.  I like lower buns too if they are kinda flat like the one in this video.

But if they are low and round I don't think it looks good. I think it has to do something with the line of the nose and a low round bun that kinda makes a triangle (if you can picture it) that I don't really care for.

I hope I answered your question!

    Good luck and keep dancing!

  9. i'm kind of a low-bun person. i'm in winter guard which uses more of a contemporary kind of dance.

  10. medium

  11. I am a dancer with a well respected group in europe, (just to follow up)

and buns are a lot more specific than high or low. for most performances it is a parted (on the opposite side of the flower headpiece, of course) high, flat bun. i like low buns, personally, because it just doesn't feel natural to have something large and heavy on the top of your head (i have really really long hair)

  12. I like low buns better because it's more casual but my dance school requires high and off the neck for ballet and high ponytail off of neck for most other classes so...yeah

  13. high bun
