  1. I'd recommend having a look at Danceworks http://www.danceworks.net (near Bond Street) and Pineapple http://www.pineapple.uk.com (near Covent Garden). They both have good beginners dance classes.

If you want a particular recommendation I'd suggest the Xpress Yo'self class at Danceworks. It is a street / hip hop style and a lot of fun and good exercise. The teacher Hakeem is really enthusiastic. The classes he does on Monday at 6pm and Tuesday at 8:15pm are suitable for beginners.

I'd also suggest having a look at this page which reviews 10 different dance classes in London - http://www.reviewmylife.com/dance_classe...

  2. Ballet is the almighty dance of passion. It encourages great poise and structure in your body.

But jazz is much more fun!!

    Try both.

  3. Hey there

I'm on the other side of the world so I can't recommend any classes, but I'll just give my experience: I know it's sort of back to front but I took jazz class first because it's so much fun. Ballet however is unbeatable for improving poise.

  4. Ok. ballet is the ultimate dance genre for poise and technique so you might want to start with that but for easier and freer work modern/jazz is a good one. Try the ISTD for names of registered teachers/schools. Good luck and enjoy.
