Dancing Help?

Well I would really like to ballet, jazz, and hip hop dancing. But I'm 14 years old and will only be in the beginning class. How hard are each of these? I will work extremely hard, following with my upcoming singing lessons, and acting lessons. I will work as hard as I can to get up to a higher class in dancing. I can't decide which one to take. I have a disablity with my left foot, which means I can;t do anythign without wearing my brace. Which means one of my foot will be barefoot and the other one will not be. But I can still do anything just that my left foot will always need a brace no matter what, but I am never really in pain and I can move just fine:)

  1. I think hip-hop would be the easiest for you to maneuver through among those three options. Ballet has too many jumps and pointing of the foot and symmetry. So hip-hop would allow you more freedom of expression. I don't know much about jazz though. Either way be prepared to have to adapt and work very hard! Good luck in your decision and classes!!

  2. unlike what other people are saying, i would suggest jazz....your feet are much too important in ballet to not have a solid foundation (good feet). i've learned through my 7 years of hip hop how much of a toll hip hop really takes on your feet. There is constant jumping, stomping, and overall powerful movements that wouldn't be good for your foot. However, if you are in a beginner class, the extremities of these three things would be much less...so i think it would be between jazz and hip hop, but that's just me! hope this helps

  3. hip hop is tiring. jazz is slightly tiring. ballet is EXTREMELY hard. especially pointe. yeah. thats difficult. pain. ballet is grace, posture, and pointing your feet. but its not easy. it is extremely hard to learn. everything is in french. you have to have huge muscles, but at the same time be light as a feather. you have to give the illusion that you are on air, like you are flying. hardness. trust me, ive been taking since i was three (im 14 now, and on pointe)

  4. ballet is all about grace, posture, and pointing your toes. Not very difficult.

Jazz I don't believe is really hard.

Hip Hop is maybe a little because its complete opposite of ballet. Its street dancing.

  5. well i skipped the beginner class for ballet and jazz and i REALLY had to catch up in the intermediate class but for your brace, i dont think you would have much of a chance with it on for ballet and jazz. im sorry!

  6. ballet is such a good foundation for everything

it gives you good posture, grace, and an ability to pick up other styles easily (esp jazz and modern)

hip hop is completely different. takes a lot of energy, but it's really fun. depending on the class, i don't think it's that hard

jazz is fun, but i would do ballet first

in order of difficulty (all depending on teacher, aptitude for differen movement styles, adn personal preference)

    1ballet

    2jazz

    3hiphop

theyre all difficult, but will all be fun and rewarding

    have fun
