  1. It's wonderful to see more dancers out there!

Going en pointe is quite possible at your age if you start now. You would probably be en pointe by next year, as long as you practice about two hours everyday, on top of your classes.

Though becoming a prima ballerina is not a likely case at all. Becoming a prima ballerina take YEARS of steady practice and training, and it's best to start that training at a young age(around eight or nine at the latest) so that the proper muscles and flexibility develop in the right places. Beginning real dancing at your age will take adjustment more than development.

So no, you probably will not become a prima ballerina, though perhaps theatre work would be a good line for you!

    Keep dancing!

  2. yes u can def make it! if u have talent and determination, then yes! no matter how old u are u can always start! ballet is an amazing way to express urself and connect with ur body, friends, and music! good luck!

  3. Hey!!! Great that you want to start dance again!!! Really an amazing story!!!

I don't want to bring down confidence but...

Dance is tough!!! I have been at a professional ballet studio since I was 3...I'm now 14!!! :)

Ballet out of all dance is the most stress full, not only for you but also your body, and the most work!!! You need dedication!! That's for sure! :P

If you want to dance, GO FOR IT! :p I'm not trying to discourage you from starting over! But just be prepared for an awakening!!!

I wouldn't tell you all this if I didn't know what I was talking about!!! Trust me I do!!! Ive been in this business for years and I am now teaching young children ballet...The thing with dance is that, when children are young, you can see who will excell and who will not!?

En pointe!!! Now that's a whole different story! :P

To be a ballet dancer takes one thing but to be en pointe, you need to have what it takes to do ballet and much more...Stronger ankles, more dedication and a bigger heart!

If you have all this GO FOR IT AND HAVE FUN!!!!!!! Dance in general is to entertain and love, if you don't have a passion for it...there is no point! :P so do what your heart tells you!

  4. Ballet is difficult.  Becoming pro even more so.  I suggest you go to a local dance studio and find out a few things from them.

  5. Definately. My Ballet teacher right now is in her 40  but now she retired. she was in a whole bunch of ballet plays and was a pro.

so u can also start at 15 and go up to 20 and u'll see then

  6. Heya!

Im 14, and have been dancing competitively since i was 3.

Yes its possible for you to be a pro, but be prepared for a lot of hard work to get you up to the higher levels of ballet.

If you really want it, and work really hard for it, then i think you'll get there!

    Goodluck (:

  7. Honestly, it is not very likely that you will become the star of any prominent ballet company. I'm not saying that it is impossible, just not very likely. Now, going pro on a smaller scale (maybe the corps), is much more likely, if you really put the effort. If you work really hard (stretch every day, work out, attend multiple classes a week) you can go very far. If they are available, I would suggest getting some private lessons, they can be VERY helpful, although usually very pricey. I would also suggest getting yourself a thera-band. It is basically a resistance band, made especially for dancers. You can get them at practically any dance store, and they can really help ankle strength, as well as flexibility and general strength with the proper exercises. If you decide to take up again, then good luck to you!

  8. i don't think u have much chance of being a PRIMA ballerina.  those girls started ballet like the moment they are born!! and they go to preffessional ballet schools for high school.  so no, you probably will never be a prima.  BUT if you practice really hard and you train at A GOOD STUDIO not just some random local dance studio opppened by someone who has never had a career in their life, you still have a chance of going proffessional in maybe another genre of dance.  You would have to work really really hard though and you would need raw talent... anyways look at sabra who won so you think you can dance! she hasn't been dancing long, i think its been like 3-4 years and she won the whole show!!

    good luck :)

  9. it's never too late. I'm 15 now and ive been dancing since i was 4 but i know people who have only just started and they are fantastic. All it takes is practice and determination.

    Good luck!

  10. i am in this same situation, and i dont know about going pro, but if you mean going en pointe, then it is possible if you practice. I started taking summer classes last week and they said i could go en pointe as soon as january because by 15 the bones in your feet are fully developed and it is safer than going en pointe by 11 or 12. about going pro, take as many classes as possible and practice every day. it is the only way to get better. If you come home and cry after your first lesson because you aren't as good, just practice and you'll get better. these girls have probally been dancing for years but i can garantee they don't practice as much as someone with a passion for it. GO FOR IT!

  11. Ballet is a very demanding and difficult type of dance. It takes years and years to build up the technique to even perform on a semi-professional level. I've been in ballet since I was two, I started pointe when I was nine, and still, teachers find ways to criticize your body and technique (for example, my b***s are too big, my thighs are too muscular, and, my favorite, im not the right type of flexible). Sure, it would be great to start again, because on the fun side, it gets you in great shape, and you make new friends. But dont get your hopes up of becoming a serious ballerina.

  12. lol no it takes 20 years or more look start baleet again and work your way up and being 5 you had to be in creative moment and not ballet 5 year olds don't even get their turn out right so obviously no you cannot become a pro

  13. Ok, so you want to do ballet. You probably have insane muscle build and flexibility from gymnastics, so that’s a good base! And if your really determined, and you try your best, you may learn faster than you think! And teachers also depend on how fast you progress. But be aware that ballet class at age five is much different then pro. But I would definitely say go for it, because if you don't, you'll always be wondering what would've happened if you did! And if it doesn't work out then, you'll know you at least got to try it!

  14. Dont worry about your age!  My older sister, now 20, started ballet when she was 16.  She went on to graduate from college with a degree in dance.  I also started ballet when I was 13 and with the help of my sister I am doing well.

  15. Are you asking it you can become a professional ballerina-No.

    A professional dancer-maybe.

I have seen dancers who are going the route to become professional dancers. You can not start at 15 and except to be at their level by 18. By 18 they are well on their way to a top notch college or dance company.  At 15 these dancers are dancing almost every night for hours. They have auditioned for minor ballets in their area and preformed.

My daughter dance at least 5 hours a week, plus another 2 during the 4 months they rehearsal times for the Nutcracker Ballet. As it gets close to show time they are at the threatre everynight. Plus going to school and keeping up with homework. Most girls in the ballet are in honors and AP classes.. And my daughter isn't near what a dancer going to be a pro should be doing.

Try to go to a top ballet school-not a local dance studio. Just watch the girls dance in class. See what is involved with becoming a professional dancer.
