  1. Do not walk around the city at night. Particually Kings Cross. There have been lots of violent attacks in the CBD recently.

Also, out west towards Paramatta, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Bidwill. They are really bad.

Redfern near the city is bad too. Don't go near there even in the day time.

Campletown, Liverpool (really dangerous), and Cabramatta and also other bad areas.

    Thanks for the question =)

Sydney is a pretty safe city though, so don't let the crime hold you back from visiting

  2. if you probally look for trouble it will find you but generally if you are level headed and it looks unsafe dont pass it

  3. Liverpool, Cabrammata redfern...Cronulla

  4. In spite of what the media will tell you, the very vast majority of Sydney is safe enough.

Just take the usual safety precautions like not walking alone at night or in dark alleys and you should be ok.

If you're here on holiday, the most likely place you'll have problems will be in Kings Cross or Surry Hills. They arent anywhere near as rough as people claim them to be, but do have reputations for petty crime at night. Just stay in a group and you will be fine.

On the train at night, if you're worried, travel on the carriages marked with a blue light as these cars have guards on them.

Have fun and dont worry about it. Sydney still ranks as one of the safest cities on earth to travel in, and if you take care you will be fine.

  5. Kings Cross can be really nasty at night.  Just go out in groups and dont stay in well lit places.

  6. Yeah, i agree with the first answer.

I moved from Sydney to Slovenia when i was about 13 and came back recently for uni. I was a bit.. scared at first, hearing how the city could be particularly dangerous. Like all capital cities, it does have its bad spots; like Kings cross...

but in general, its a pretty safe city, just keep in a group in late hours in streets which dont have a high populated night scene. Its just common sense. Ive been roaming around these last couple of days.. and to be honest, I havent had a single problem.

  7. if you dont mess around with drunken or people who dont look trustworthy you'll be fine

i would say outer sydney city is to be kept out of at night

redfern through to petersham or so but during the day those places are great places

believe me i live in it

  8. I live in Redfern (have for a year) am a single white girl, and have NEVER had a problem, even at night.  Definately NEVER during the day.  Yes, people get drunk.  I dont' mess with them, they don't mess with me.  Sydney is on the whole safe - if you feel unsafe, others sense that.  Walk with courage and strength and no one will notice you!

Likewise for Blacktown - it's really ok, just don't hang around and look for trouble.  I have waited for people there many a times, and never felt unsafe.
