Dangerous to live in Brisbane CBD?

I've visiting Brisbane for the first time and notice that the backpackers and other inns keep their doors locked after 10pm. Is there a reason for such a security measure? Are robberies frequent at night? Thanks.

No Brisbane CBD is very safe most hotels in australia lock their doors for security reasons but it does'nt mean the city is dangerous.

Yes it is a bit of a security risk leaving your door unlocked, mainly due to druggies who are out to rob or steal your stuff so they have drug money for their drugs.
