The former Sevilla defender praised Real Madrid for their efficient play before coyly asserting that Barcelona were the better side in the Copa del Rey fixture.
Alves completed a sensational outing on the pitch with solid defending in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s backline and capped his performance with a brilliant goal.
The Catalans were made to work hard in the second period and Alves acknowledged that they suffered in their progression to the semi-finals of the competition.
He added that Barcelona were always wary of the threat Real Madrid possess and praised them for their performance.
"We knew we had to suffer until the end," Alves said after the match. "This version of Real Madrid is the one that gives us the most problems, because they create a lot of pressure.
"They were phenomenal, closed down very well and made it very hard for us to attack.”
With the match against Los Blancos behind them, the Brazilian international reflected that they are ecstatic at progressing in the cup competition.
Continuing on the subject, Alves explained that Barcelona triumphed as they were the better side over the two legs.
"The most important thing is that we are through. We knew this tie would be decided in both matches, not just the first one.
"We are very happy to go through."
However, the Canarinha international was less than impressed with Real Madrid’s un sportsman like behaviour and voiced his opinion about them. He commented that both teams are of the highest pedigree but differ in their mannerism.
"A minor detail is that when the ball goes out, we return it and Madrid do not.
"This is the difference between the two teams."
La Blaugrana avenged their last year’s Copa del Rey final defeat as they knocked out Real Madrid. Barcelona will now lock horns with the winner of Levante and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in the other quarter-final fixture.
The European and Spanish champions will now return their focus on La Liga, where they are second, behind Real Madrid. The Santiago Bernabeu-based outfit have a five point advantage over the Spanish Champions.
Barcelona travel to El Madrigal as they resume their league adventures, while Madrid tackled Real Zaragoza in their next fixture.
