Granada midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-c9867 Benitez, has been banned for three months after his intolerable behaviour after the game against Real Madrid.
Things got out of hand after Granada faced Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday.
Real Madrid were announced as the Spanish champions before they faced Granada. Their win against Athletic Bilbao was enough to give them enough gap over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 to claim the Spanish crown.
However, Granada did their best against a relatively weaker Madrid and took a lead over the Spanish champions as they faced them over Saturday.
However, Los Blancos made an exemplary comeback and showed why they are the champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Cortes later in the game, and the goal proved to be crucial as it was the winner for the
Spanish champions.
However, Madrid’s win and Cortes’ goal weren’t the only two highlights of the game. The match ended in a farce as two of Granada’s players were shown a red and the protest got so bad that many different incidents led to banning of not only players
but also the management.
Granada’s home ground saw Moises Hurtado and Guilhermo Siqueira getting sent off after they angrily protested when the referee blew the final whistle.
The referee, Clos Gomez, was hit by a plastic bottle in the face and later the replays clearly showed that it was intentionally thrown by the Granada playmaker, Dani Benitez, who later realized his mistake and publicly apologized during the post-match
press conference.
However, the on-loan midfielder from Udinese was handed a three-month ban despite apologizing at the end.
The match will see Benitez out of action until mid-November, which means that he will be missing out on 15 games including the last match of this season and 14 matches of the next season.
The players who received red cards, Siqueira and Hurtado, will both be serving four-match bans as well. Moreover, the Granada staff member, Inaki Garcia, will be facing a four-match suspension while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Navarro-c10564 will be suspended for two games.
Granada are currently fighting a relegation battle and in order to stay in Spanish top-flight football they have to either draw or win the final game against Rayo Vallecano.
