The Granada midfielder was sour after his appeal to have his three month ban overturned and lashed out at the different treatment of RFEF for smaller clubs.
Since first arriving at Los Carmenes two years ago on loan from Udinese, Dani Benitez has managed to cement a first team place for him with Granada CF. The Spanish midfielder has been a revelation for El Grana, hitting the back of the net 17 times in 104 competitive appearances.
However, the 25-year-old came to the limelight with his altercation with referee http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
The Mallorca youth academy graduate appealed to Angel Maria Villar to rescind his punishment and allow him to start the season in El Grana colours at the start of the 2012/13 Spanish top flight domestic football season.
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-c9867’s appeal was rejected on grounds of out of the jurisdiction of the RFEF President and his powers, Jose Mourinho and Tito Vilanova were given the green light for appearing in the Spanish Super Cup, ending their two and one match sentences effectively.
The Palma born midfielder did not have any qualms as Tito Vilanova being set free but raised his voice against the treatment to Jose Mourinho. He claimed that while he admits his punishment is right, the Portuguese manager’s punishment should have been upheld.
Benitez argued that Mourinho was completely in the wrong when he eye poked Vilanova and should have been made to serve his sentence. The only explanation the midfielder came up with was accusations on RFEF for their preferential treatment for bigger clubs.
"I expected that I keep the penalty. I did not expect forgiveness. In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, the big teams have always had an advantage over smaller ones. What I did is more serious than Mourinho, but Mourinho’s is still serious."
"I made a mistake and I have to pay for what I did. If it was Barca or Madrid would not have received a penalty of three months," the left midfielder claimed.
