Dani Clos: I would love to do something in 2012 season – Formula 1 news
GP2 Series driver Dani Clos has said that he would love to do something in the 2012 Formula 1 season if Hispania Racing Team gives him a chance of racing.
Clos is looking for an HRT race seat for the next year after testing the team’s F111 car in the 2011 Young Driver Test session at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
GP2 race winner, Clos talked to the media and added that he thinks he is well prepared to step up into Formula 1 sport because he has a lot of experience and podiums in GP2.
He also mentioned that he wants to race in F1 with HRT next year. In addition, he stated that if he will not step up as a race driver with the team, then maybe he could do something as a reserve driver for them.
The Spaniard commented, “I hope that we get the economic support because I think that we can do good things. It has been great to step back into an F1 car again after three years and the opportunity to be with HRT was incredible - also because it's with
a Spanish team.”
He went on to mention, “It's not that teams want to ask for money, but they need to. The economic situation in every sector is very hard. We are in the situation that we would love to step up but we need some support on the economic side. It's not impossible.”
The 23-year-old GP2 Series driver took part in the 2011 Young Driver Test for the Spanish squad and tested F111 car throughout the first day of the session.
At the day one of the test, he ended up 12th best for HRT by setting the time of 1 minute and 45.329 seconds.
After running in the first day of the 2011 Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, Clos is targeting an HRT race seat for the next F1 season.
The driver further added that for a driver to get into F1, a lot of things are involved. He also said that the Spanish team has to express its desire for him for the next season’s races.
Let’s see whether HRT adds Clos in their 2012 drivers’ line-up or not.
