Dani Pedrosa determined to keep the momentum going into the Mugello Grand Prix – Moto GP news
Dani Pedrosa is determined to keep up the momentum he got from the breakthrough German grand Prix win.
Pedrosa was able to secure his first win of the 2012 season at Sachsenring and is hoping to continue the same form going into the Italian Grand Prix. A Grand Prix win had eluded the Spaniard since Motegi in 2011. The win has now moved him up to second place
in the Championship and only 14 points behind the leader Jorge Lorenzo.
Pedrosa admitted that the win came as a relief and the target of the team is to maintain such momentum considering the high competitiveness levels in the current season.
“This season you have to be almost perfect in every race to get a win, so we will keep pushing hard. I'm really looking forward to getting to Mugello and try to keep this momentum at a circuit that I love,” he said.
Pedrosa said that taking advantage of Honda’s engine power and torque will be very important to the team’s success at Mugello. Honda has last won at the venue in 2010 but that is the only win they have had in the last years at the Mugello track while Yamaha
have six in the same period.
“Mugello is a completely different track, it's important to have a very fast bike in these corners and to get our strong points out in the track, we must take profit of the power of our Honda engine,” he said. “It's a very demanding track physically; last
year I got there very weak due to the injury and I couldn't manage a good race, but we had a nice win in 2010 and I feel good now and ready to enjoy riding there again.”
It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the coming races, the next challenge they face is the Mugello Grand Prix. He even said that all he is looking to do after Sachsenring is to get back on the bike and score some points in the Championship.
Teammate Casey Stoner said that he hoped Honda has learnt its lessons from the previous year when he finished third in the season. He is now looking to overcome the Sachsenring disappointment.
