Dani Pedrosa doubtful to return for upcoming Assen Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is doubtful to return at the seventh round of the 2011 MotoGP season, the Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix in Netherlands.
Dani Pedrosa said that his recovery is still going on and he was working on the doctor’s advice which will help the injury to heal properly.
Pedrosa wrote on his blog, “I would like to know whether I will be able to compete at Assen, but it is something that I do not know yet. The recovery is going a bit slower than what was originally expected and I am taking things day-by-day. There is still
a week to go and I am not aware of how I will feel in the next few days.”
The Spaniard further added, “I am feeling a bit down because I very much want to recover in order to go back to racing, but the healing of the injury is out of my control.”
The Spanish rider said that he is doing everything to speed up his recovery and is following the prescriptions. Pedrosa will reveal his health conditions further by next week as the event draws closer.
His collarbone fracture from the Le Mans Grand Prix has forced him to miss three events which cost him to lose important points in the world championship standings.
Pedrosa has fallen to fifth place in points table which is led by his teammate Casey Stoner.
The initial cause of his delayed healing was said to be the smaller size of the titanium plate used to fix his fracture. This was done as a precautionary method in order to avoid any artery strain he faced earlier on his left subclavian artery.
However, a recent rumour suggested that the delay in his healing was a secondary injury which he got during the physiotherapy session, but the claims were denied by the team.
Let’s see if he is able to make a return in Netherlands or not next weekend.
