Dani Pedrosa leads free practice 2 session at Motegi – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda has topped the second free practice session of Japanese Grand Prix.
The championship leader’s fastest lap was ranked as second in the session whereas Andrea Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3 sustained his 3rdposition from the FP1.
Jorge Lorenzo’s 294.1 km/h was no match against the blazing 307.8 km/h of Honda and the Yamaha rider was restricted to 2nd position in the FP2 with a gap of 0.102 seconds. His teammate, Ben Spies, could only make it to the 6thposition with a gap of 0.824
seconds from Pedrosa.
Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3 proved his skills against his teammate by making it to the 3rd position while Crutchlow could not cross above 9th position in the practice session.
Valentino Rossi of Ducati made it to the 5th position in the practice session. His 298.0 km/h was the second fastest speed of the session. His fast speed could not help him cross Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda MotoGP who finished at the 4thposition however the
speed was a shock for the spectators because it came all of a sudden in his last lap. The 10th position in FP2 was attained by the other Ducati rider, Nicky Hayden. His setting with the bike was not as impressive as it was in FP1 as he could not achieve a
speed higher than 289.6 km/h whereas his speed in FP1 was 300.2 km/h.
Casey Stoner, teammate of Pedrosa, registered his fastest lap in 1 minute and 46.978 seconds attaining 7th position after a problem with his bike in FP1. He did not seem satisfied with the setup of his bike because he had to return to his pits frequently
to make adjustments to his bike.
Aleix Espargaro of Power Electronics Aspar topped the Claiming Rule Team (CRTs). His fastest lap was ranked 13th overall.
The gap among the top 9 positions is less than 1 second which makes the event further interesting as it depicts close competition. Most interesting battle is expected to take place when speed will meet strategy in the upcoming Sunday as the championship
leader will be battling with his old Honda rival.
Let’s see whether it will be Pedrosa to further close the gap with championship leader or will Lorenzo strengthen his championship lead at the Japanese GP.
