Dani Pedrosa of Honda leads the first practice session of Brno Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda has been able to lead the first practice session of Czech Republic Grand Prix by finishing the session with a best time of 1 minute and 57.003 seconds.
His old rival Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha who completed his best lap in 1 minute and 57.149 seconds, only 0.146 seconds behind, followed him.
Pedrosa was followed by four riders riding Yamaha after Casey Stoner has left for Australia because of the surgical treatment of his ankle. Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow riding for Tech3 Yamaha followed Jorge Lorenzo. They completed their best laps
in 1 minute and 57.189 and 57.418 seconds, respectively.
Ben Spies faced an incident in the last two Grands prix he started, however he managed to record his fastest lap in 1 minute and 57.446 seconds.
Sole under pressure Ducati rider Valentino Rossi was only able to attain 7th position by finishing his best lap in 1 minute and 58.171 seconds with a gap of 1.168 seconds after Alvaro Bautista of Gresini Honda, who finished his fastest lap of
practice session in 1 minute and 57.501 seconds.
Stefan Bradl riding for LCR Honda recorded the 8th fastest lap of the practice session in 1 minute and 58.345 seconds. Randy de Puniet of Aspar Aprilia and Yonni Hernandez of AvintiaFTR – Kawasaki made it among the top ten contenders by finishing their best
laps in 1 minute and 58.667 seconds and 1 minute and 59.256 seconds, respectively.
After the incident faced by Casey Stoner, it seems as if Pedrosa is the only effective contender for the championship against Lorenzo.
During the first practice session, Rossi went wide into dirt which hit Pedrosa on his foot. After that, Pedrosa went into the pits limping however, he returned and registered his fastest lap of the session.
Toni Elias of team Pramac substituted for Hector Barbera, because of the incident he faced while training before United States Grand Prix. Elias was only able to finish his fastest lap of the day in 1 minute and 59.881 seconds and attained 13th position
in the first practice session.
