Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda dominates in FP3 at Jerez – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa dominates in final free practice session of MotoGP at Jerez de la Frontera in rainy conditions.
Pedrosa set the best time of 1 minute and 50.121 seconds in FP3 and stayed ahead of Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo who came second on the timesheets with his best finish of 1 minute and 50.232 seconds.
Pedrosa’s teammate Casey Stoner set the third best time of 1 minute and 50.455 seconds. Moreover, after hitting his best lap time, the Australian rider went to the pits and remained there until the end of the session.
Nicky Hayden of Ducati followed Stoner and came 4th with his best time of 1 minute and 50.495 seconds. The American rider remained ahead of Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech 3 who set the fifth best time of 1 minute and 50.692 seconds.
Even though, the seven-time world champion, Valentino Rossi came second in FP2, however he could only finish at 6th place in FP3 with his best time of 1 minute and 51.601 seconds. Nevertheless, he managed to stay ahead of Crutchlow’s teammate, Andrea Dovizioso
who set the seventh best time of 1 minute and 51.615 seconds.
The eighth place was occupied by LCR Honda MotoGP rider Stefan Bradl who hit his best time of 1 minute and 51.661 seconds. The German rider was followed by Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing who finished at ninth place with his best time of 1 minute
and 51.700 seconds.
Randy De Puniet of Power Electronics Aspar ended at tenth position in FP3 with his best finish of 1 minute and 51.972 seconds. The French rider stayed ahead of Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing who set the 11th best time of 1 minute and 52.228 seconds.
Pramac Racing rider Hector Barbera secured 12th best finish after setting his best time of 1 minute and 52.676 seconds. He remained ahead of Yonny Hernandez of Avintia Blusens with a difference of 0.054 seconds.
Speed Master rider Mattia Pasini set the 14th best time of 1 minute and 52.754 seconds and was followed by Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini. Furthermore, Bautista was crashed on wet track at turn one. Nonetheless, he went to the pit unharmed but
did not show up again until the end of the session.
Bautista was followed by his teammate Michele Pirro who came 16th after setting his best time of 1 minute and 53.489 seconds.
In FP3, many riders delivered impressive performances on wet track. However, it will be important to note that in addition to the pace on track in the race ahead, the tyre management is very crucial. Besides, the weather conditions will also act as a vital
factor for deciding the race winner.
