Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda finishes third at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa earned the third position on the podium at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.
It is his second podium finish since his comeback at Mugello. In the previous event in Germany, Pedrosa won the race.
Pedrosa said, “I'm very happy with another podium, the second after my come back from injury. I could have predicted this result before coming to Laguna because I knew it would be physically very tough for me and it has been great to keep up with the pace
of Casey and Jorge in these past two races.”
At the start of the race where Pedrosa was placed third on the starting grid, he immediately jumped to second place in the race. In the following laps, all three Repsol Honda riders, Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso were lined behind Jorge
Lorenzo and Marco Simoncelli of San Carlo Honda Gresini was in the fifth position.
Pedrosa added, “Today, by the middle of the race, I was very tired, almost finished, I couldn't get my left arm strong enough and here at this track you don't rest for a moment, so I had to drop. It's been quite difficult to set up the bike this weekend.”
After hanging at the second place for about 17 laps, Dani Pedrosa started to lose grip on his factory Honda RC212V.
The Spaniard was felling exhausted by the middle of the race. Considering the layout, the Laguna Seca track is narrow and tricky being hard on physical conditions. As Pedrosa was still recovering from his injuries, he was not able to chase Jorge Lorenzo.
Finally, after losing his position to teammate Casey Stoner, the Spaniard had to slow down and maintain enough distance to keep fighting the top duo in sight. Despite that, Pedrosa was cleanly ahead of his third teammate Andrea Dovizioso.
With the last event of eight-week time span, Pedrosa will have three weeks to rehabilitate and get into perfect health conditions for the eleventh MotoGP round at Brno, Czech Republic.
