Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda hopes to carry winning form to Phillip Island – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is ready to continue his winning form to Phillip Island. The 16th MotoGP event, Iveco Australian Grand Prix will be taking place on October 16, 2011.
Dani Pedrosa said, “I'm looking forward to going to Phillip Island as the circuit is very nice with many fast corners and a lot of sliding. The tyres play an important role there as the left side of the tyre gets used a lot and therefore durability is always
crucial.”
The Spanish rider has won the last premier class outing at Twin Ring Motegi which was first for HRC at Japan. He was third from the start off behind teammates Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso.
A single mistake by Stoner dropped him to seventh place and gave Dovizioso the lead. However, the Italian Repsol rider had to serve the penalty orders he took due to jump start in the race. Dovizioso went in pit lane and Pedrosa was the race leader across
the finish line.
Pedrosa collected his third win of the season at Motegi, including the last two that were at Portugal and Sachsenring. He has been through a very hard season missing three rounds to date, due to injury and couple of surgeries.
Pedrosa added, “Last year I tried to return to racing in Australia after my collarbone operation and I realised during practice that it would be impossible for me to finish the race. It was very hard for me to accept that I was not ready to race as a result
of the injury and I had to return home empty handed after a big effort.”
He is back at Phillip Island after missing the event in the last two seasons due to injuries. At the moment, he aims to run without pushing hard at the Australian venue just to score good points for his championship.
Currently, he stands at fourth place in the championship, just one point behind his teammate Andrea Dovizioso at third. Now both teammates will have to score a podium in order to secure a third place in the championship.
