Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda says he is happy after a positive private test at Aragon – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda completed the second day of private test session at Aragon prior to the Italian Grand Prix scheduled at Misano on September 16, 2012.
On the second day of private test he completed his lap in 1 minute and 48.499 seconds being the second fastest rider of the session. His main focus was over the suspension settings and he tested a new exhaust as well.
He said, “Today I had a test on a new exhaust to see if we can get better driveability of the engine. Some positives. We also tried a different rear shock to get more grip. In general it was a positive test so I’m happy.”
The main purpose of testing a new exhaust was to improve the performance of the engine. The test completed positively and they were able to achieve their desired results.
To cater to the needs of an improved suspension they tried new shocks.
The time he completed his fastest lap of the second day at test was 0.516 seconds more than that of his first day, whereas Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing completed the lap in the fastest time during the tests. He completed his fastest lap in 1 minute
48.244 seconds. Lorenzo was testing his 2013 chassis and engine.
The main aim of the Honda rider during the busy two-day test session was to setup his bike for the grands prix scheduled in the remainder of the season.
Pedrosa is the only hope for Honda in the current season as Casey Stoner had to suspend the season due to his ankle surgery. Honda has introduced a replacement for the Australian rider, but Stoner still remains at the third position in the championship.
Stoner’s surgery has retired him from the chase of championship title. The replacement for Stoner is Jonathan Rea.
Pedrosa has never joined any team other than Honda, until now. He started his official racing career in 2001 with 125cc bikes. He moved towards 250cc bikes in 2004 and started his MotoGP Career in 2006.
Let’s see if he is able to make it to the championship title this year or not.
