Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda wins Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda won the Japanese Grand Prix after a stunning battle with his old rival Jorge Lorenzo.
The 3rd position on the podium was attained by Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini.
The race was a stunning battle between Lorenzo and Pedrosa however Pedrosa took the lead in the middle of the race. The two veteran riders kept battling for the first position on the podium and gained a good gap with other riders however the Honda rider
proved that his strength is better than the strategy of the Yamaha rider, by the end of race. The difference between the speeds of Yamaha and Honda machine was only 0.3 km/h.
The third position on the rostrum was attained by the San Carlo Honda Gresini rider. The Monster Yamaha Tech3 riders could not exhibit the battle in terms of edging each other by attaining more points as they had previously been doing, as Cal Crutchlow retired
from the race 1 lap prior to the finish line whereas his teammate Andrea Dovizioso finished the race at the 4th position.
The returning Casey Stoner attained 5th position in the race despite having several problems with his bike during the practice sessions. He was followed by Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda MotoGP.
The duo Ducati riders remained together even in the race after the qualifying round however they improved their positions to 7th and 8th position. Nicky Hayden made it to the finish line at the 8th position.
The race witnessed some unlucky incidents over the circuit as 6 riders were not classified in the race. Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing and Yonny Hernandez of Avintia Blusens were the first two eliminated from the race 23 laps prior to the finish line.
Ivan Silva of Avintia Blusens and Randy De Puniet of Power Electronics Aspar were eliminated 10 laps before the race finished. The last two riders eliminated, 1 lap prior to the finish line, were Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 and Danilo Petrucci of
Came IodaRacing Project.
The victory of Pedrosa further closed the gap with the Yamaha championship leader however the reducing gap in terms of top speed of the two veteran riders depicts that Yamaha is working hard to improve the performance of their bike in the remainder of the
current 2012 season.
