Dani Pedrosa recovering well after undergoing surgery – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa had a successful surgery last week and now will have his first session of rehabilitation, by beginning his passive exercise on his left shoulder.
His last operation was held at Spain after the second round of the MotoGP season, Grande Premio bwin de Espana.
The Spanish rider was freed from the titanium plates and screws fixed to his collarbone during a recent surgery at Barcelona. The surgery was performed by Dr. Cesar Garcia-Madrid, vascular surgeon and Dr. Joaquim Casanas, trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at
the Teknon Medical Centre.
The Spaniard will start his second stage to recover from the arm pump issue after undergoing a surgery last week. Pedrosa is determined to get back in action for the Portuguese round of the calendar by May 1 on Estoril circuit.
On Monday, Pedrosa had his first full medical check-up after his operation on April 5 at the Teknon Medical Centre in order to release the pressure on the left subclavian artery. The doctors who performed the surgery on Pedrosa assured that his wound is
recovering quickly, with no septic and fore sees to remove his stitches within the next week.
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa had five days to rest after the surgery, with his today’s first session of passive exercise session, which will be supervised by a physiotherapist.
The rider was helped by the unobvious gap between the events, as the Japanese Grand Prix was postponed by the devastating earthquake and a tsunami in Japan. It raised the death toll to thousands. The Japanese Grand Prix was scheduled for April 24, but after
the disaster, it was shifted down to October 2. This is the second consecutive year when the Japanese Grand Prix is shifted from the start of the season to October.
Many other riders in MotoGP are experiencing health issues which have hindered the performance expected by their fans and teams. Valentino Rossi is still suffering from shoulder problem he got from the last season and Alvaro Bautista of Rizla Suzuki got
his left femur fractured during a run before Commercial Grand Prix of Qatar, Suzuki was forced to miss the first round of the season. Cal Crutchlow also got his left little-finger injured after falling at a FP session at Losail circuit.
With the leading Repsol Honda riders, who performed and proved to be the best rival in the completion, also led the winter test sessions with no other to match the pace, also have a determination to make the two wheel riders safe on their machines.
In the footprints of Dani Pedrosa, his teammates Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso will join him from running season onwards in the Safety Activities for bike riders. The Repsol Honda trio will wear a “Honda Safety” logo on the fairings of their RC212V in
four Grands Prix during this season, starting from the second race of the season, Gran Premio bwin de Espana at Jerez circuit.
