Dani Pedrosa registers fastest laps on first day of practice sessions at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda Team managed to put in the fastest laps during both practice sessions of the US Grand Prix on Friday.
He completed the laps in 1 minute and 21.424 seconds and 1 minute and 21.088 seconds, respectively in both sessions. On the other hand, his teammate, Casey Stoner, was able to finish his laps in 1 minute and 21.829 seconds and 1 minute and 21.457 seconds.
Pedrosa said that they had a good practice session and were able to get a good lap time in the first session and later they improved it in the second session.
Furthermore, he told that the grip of rear tyre was not good and the performance of the rear tyre improved in the evening. However, he said that the performance was not consistent and they had issues with the grip as well.
Moreover, he said that he expects that the problem will be resolved tomorrow and he will be able to achieve more speed with his bike. Commenting on the performance of the new bike, the Spanish rider said that the bike gave good performance during the practice
session however he will be working to cater to the other issues, related to grip.
Pedrosa said, “The tyres were working a little better in the afternoon, but it was hard to work on the consistency due to the lack of grip. I hope to be able to work on the pace tomorrow to prepare the race. The new bike is working good here, I will continue
working on the set up tomorrow.”
On the other hand his teammate, Casey Stoner said that it was not a wonderful day for the team. He added that they had some stability issues with the soft compound tyres and bike was too aggressive with the hard compound tyres.
Stoner said, “We struggled a little this morning with stability on the soft tyre; we improved it slightly this afternoon on the hard tyre but found the bike to be quite aggressive and there wasn't much grip.”
He added that if we able to make some small improvements successfully by tomorrow then we will be able to say whether we are competitive or not.
