Dani Pedrosa wins the Aragon Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda won the Spanish Grand Prix convincingly at the Aragon circuit edging Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing.
Lorenzo could not beat the fast pace of Honda Machine and finished the race as runner up. The third place on the Spanish podium was taken by Andrea Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3.
Pedrosa won the Spanish GP by making it to the finish line in 42 minutes and 10.444 seconds. He achieved a top speed of 166.2 km/h over his home circuit. His teammate Jonathan Rea, replacement for injured Casey Stoner, finished his race at the 7th position
with a gap of 32.290 seconds.
The gap between the old rivals, Pedrosa and Lorenzo was 6.472 seconds. The other rider of Yamaha, Ben Spies could only make it to the 5th position after the battle of two teammates, Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 for the third
position. Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini followed Spies at the 6th position.
The Ducati rider, Valentino Rossi made it to 8th position in the Aragon GP. After all his efforts to improve his Ducati he managed attaining a top of 163.3 km/h.
Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing and Aleix Espargaro of Power Electronics Aspar completed the top ten line-up of the Aragon circuit. Abraham made it to the 9th position.
The Spanish GP faced several incidents over the circuit however no severe injuries were reported. In the first two laps Rossi touched the wheels of Rea later at turn 16 Nicky Hayden of Ducati faced a devastating crash because he was unable to apply the brakes
at the right time. He was thrown over the advertising boards. He was urgently given medical treatment and was later declared safe however he has been given a neck brace and will go through more checks for internal injuries.
The retirement was of Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda MotoGP who crashed at the third position trying to push hard. He lost the front end of his bike 19 laps prior to the finish line. The third retirement from the Spanish GP was of David Salom 20 laps before the
race finished.
